Microbiota and Pain

Our body is made up of trillions of cells. Living within us are microorganisms more numerous than our cells. Living in harmony with our microbiota improves our health.

When we eat fiber, the bacteria in our gut break down the fiber and  produce short chain fatty acids. Fatty acids have many health benefits, including the ability to lower inflammation. They improve our immunity. They have the ability to change our genes, flipping genes off or on, working on cells like T regulatory cells.

Diet and lifestyle can affect our health by improving our community of microbiota. We can train our bodies to accept a new healthier diet by slowly introducing foods into our diet that help our immune system, brain, and overall health. (Dr. Will Bulsiewicz)

Some examples of these foods are:

Fruit and Fermented Foods (kimchi, sauerkraut) – Fruit for fiber and polyphenols.        Fermented foods add live microbes

G Greens and Grains like kale, spinach, quinoa, barley

O Omega 3 seeds like chia, flax seeds, hemp seeds,

A Aromatic foods like garlic, onion, shallots, leeks (prebiotic properties)

L Legumes like beans, lentils and chickpeas. Less bloating if they are sprouted

S Sprouts, Seaweed, Sulforaphane and Shrooms (Mushrooms): Sprouting beans and cruciferous vegetables like broccoli unlocks their healing nature.

More on Inflammation.

One change in habit performed every day will soon change your brain’s structure and functioning.

Wishing you good health

Judy
